Remember how Tanki Xentered Open Beta last September? Yeah, it's still not available on Steam. Instead, AlternativaPlatform released the original 2009 browser game, Tanki Online, on Steam earlier today. The Steam version lets players play the game on their desktop, rather than in a browser, as well as use their Steam account to log in. Unfortunately, however, you cannot use your existing Tanki Online account to play the Steam version.
For those that don't know, Tanki Online is ridiculously popular, with the official website boasting nearly 48,000 users online as of this writing. If that audience were to transfer to Steam in its entirety, it would consistently rank in Steam's top 10. That being said, many games that are popular outside of Steam struggle to find an audience on Steam and the fact that you are forced to use your Steam account for the Steam version won't help Tanki in that regard.
